The Queen renews her pledge to mark 70 year anniversary of accession

Her Royal Majesty The Queen sends a letter to continue her devoted service to the people.

She is the longest-reigning monarch in British history and the first to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

Prince Charles welcomed his mother’s wish that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, be known as Queen Consort when he becomes King.

In the from Sandringham House the queen writes “The 6th February, marks the 70th anniversary of my Accession in 1952.  It is a day that, even after 70 years, I still remember as much for the death of my father, King George VI, as for the start of my reign.”

“It gives me pleasure to renew to you the pledge I gave in 1947 that my life will always be devoted to your service.”

Her Son the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall congratulated the queen posted a letter online.
